30 days until Christmas.

What better way to spend a Sunday than making salt dough decorations and listening to Christmas music!

Simple salt dough recipe..
  • 1 cup salt
  • 2 cups plain flour
  • 1 cup warm water

I usually mix the salt and flour first and then gradually add the water, using my hands to knead it into dough.

You can add food colouring to your mix but I always use acrylic paint once they're dry to decorate them so I haven't bothered colouring the dough.

Making the decorations is SO simple, I use cookie cutters and a plastic knife. Don't forget to poke a little hole in them before they harden so you can threat them with ribbon or whatever you want to use to hang them from your tree.

You can let them air dry, or put them in the oven at about 180-200 until they're hard. If they start browning before they're hard, just put foil over the top :)

(I also read somewhere that you can do a couple at a time for 2-3 minutes in the microwave, but mine started puffing up, fine for the plain circles but not so good if your design is a bit more intricate!)

As you can see they're really fun to make, Seren kept giggling about how messy it was!

Scruff ate some, I wouldn't advise it. It tastes minging!

I'm letting ours dry/harden over night so hopefully I'll be able to share the finish product soon!
Seren said it was very hard work and insisted she needed a nap afterwards. We ended up having a dance instead though!

Happy decorating!

Happy thanksgiving American friends!

December seems to be racing towards us and with the wintery weather recently I've started to let Christmas creep in.

Our tree will be going up on the 1st so I've been looking to iheartorganizing for crafty inspiration.

I thought I'd share a few pictures from my Instagram  Instagram over the last few days :)

Enjoy!
Nome.

PS: the red and white decorations in with the candle are salt dough, keep an eye out for a tutorial soon!

Seren showing me her cheesiest pose ever.

My Mum treated us to a new Advent calendar, I'm going to fill it with Cadbury's Roses!

I got bored cleaning up leaves in the garden, so I took pictures of them...

Seren borrowed her Grandma's Christmas bobble.

Scruff is mesmerised by fire!

And finally, the cosy, winter weather, enjoyed from indoors!

It's a hoot!

My brothers super talented girlfriend Hannah is taking orders for bespoke owls in time for Christmas!

She made me Wolverowl to order for Mike last year and this year he's getting a Captain America owl to chill on the DVD shelf next to him.

You can find her on Facebook..

Good afternoon!

I've been using tumblr for a couple years now (gnomefairy.tumblr.com) but I've finally progressed over to here and I'm looking forward to writing in a bit more detail.

I'll start with an introduction, my names Naomi but I go by Nome. I live in England with my fiance Mike, our daughter Seren and a crazy cat called Scruff.

I'm totally new to this so you'll have to bare with me but I intend to share my crafty projects, things I find interesting, sneak peeks into our day to day lives and probably the odd face full of make up and cosmetics reviews.

So for now I'll leave you with some pictures of us :)

Speak soon!
